BAKA BOYZ SIGN-ON AT BLAZIN’ 98.9 SAN DIEGO!!
In
a ground-breaking deal for Hip-Hop/Rhythmic
in the San Diego market, BLAZIN’
98.9 FM has signed the legendary BAKA
BOYZ to present Morning/Drive
6:00am to 10:00am Monday to Friday.
“There
has been a lot of conjecture and rumour regarding
exactly what BLAZIN’ would be doing into
2007, following our changes pre Christmas”
explains MEC Network’s OM/Brand &
Marketing, Lee Cornell, “but as we stated
at the time, our aim was always to build a bigger,
better, and broader appeal Hip Hop/Rhythmic
station for San Diego listeners. The
BAKA BOYZ, Eric and Nick Vidal, are
premier talent, proven major-market radio performers,
and we’re excited to be bringing them
back to the West Coast. The BAKA BOYZ
will lead the new line-up of BLAZIN’
98.9 FM into 2007, and some exciting
new broadcast initiatives.”
The
station already features the highly-rated nationally
syndicated BAKA BOYZ HIP HOP MASTERMIX
program Friday nites from 5:00pm.
The BOYZ MASTERMIX is the largest and most succesful
“mix show” in the U.S. featuring
on over 90 radio stations across the nation,
with an audience in excess of 2 million a week.
With the BAKA BOYZ live on
and from the studios of BLAZIN’
98.9 in a Monday to Friday prime-time
show, the station is likely to move the MASTERMIX
to a prime weekend slot, capping off the week.
BAKA
BOYZ Manager, Gary Bernstein, says
“This is a VERY unique situation whereby
the deal has a top-secret second component that
will ensure the program and the station have
unprecedented access to Hollywood, the West
Coast, and pretty much the entire World in a
manner that shatters the mold on all previous
applications. Plus, this deal is the first wave
of several different syndication platforms that
are being developed that will further enhance
their brand. Let's just say MEC
stands also for More Exciting Content on its
way".
MEC
Network Inc. will release more detail regarding
the return of the BAKA BOYZ and their arrival
in the San Diego market in the weeks ahead.
Stay tuned!
