“It’s
a significant investment” MEC
CEO/President Mario Mayans says “but
the tri-city grid is something we envisioned
and have been planning for some time. With multi-platform
broadcast technologies a reality, and the key
focus on content, being where it all happens
creates instant access and opportunity to maximize
these futures for the network.”
The
unique move means BLAZIN’ 98.9’s
recently signed morning combo THE BAKA
BOYZ can operate between L.A. and San
Diego at will, with instant access to major
artists, celebrities, and events.
OM/Brand
& Marketing, Lee Cornell, explains
“This concept excited Eric V.,
Nick V. and J. Love
from the moment we tabled it. It adds a dynamic
to the BAKA BOYZ BLAZIN’ 98.9
show that capitalizes on their L.A. radio heritage
and national profile, and gives San Diego listeners
content they simply won’t get on other
stations. The guys are plugged in to the L.A.
music and celebrity circuit and this brings
it home to Diego.”
The
MEC Burbank “L.A. Central”
studios will include the latest Harris
24 channel digital consoles and state of the
art technology in two broadcast studios with
additional production and mix suite areas. MEC
IT/Chief Engineer, Gabriel De La Pena,
is overseeing the site installation located
in the heart of Burbank adjacent to the Warner
Bros studio lot.
